Meet the Newest Member of our Team!

Tana Yunker recently joined our Re/Max team. She will be helping us out in our marketing department. Jim and Tana moved from Southwest Michigan in February. Tana shares her story of how they became new residents of Savannah Lakes Village. Here is their story.

My husband Jim and I recently moved to Savannah Lakes Village.

The search for our second act began five years ago. We spent every vacation exploring potential areas to start our next chapter. My husband wanted the mountains, and I loved the coast. Coming from Michigan we both longed for warmer weather. I’m being brutally honest when I say Savannah Lakes Village was not my first choice. Initially, Savannah Lakes didn’t appear to be anything either of us thought we wanted but ended up being everything we needed. I planned to find a bungalow near the coast in a vibrant city packed with green space, unique shops, restaurants, and music. It was after a random google search of the best places to retire that my husband suggested a Re/Max Stay And Play Discovery Package. I went along with it, but the coast was still pulling at my heart. Upon our arrival, it became clear all that Savannah Lakes Village had to offer. Beautiful Lake Thurmond is surrounded by mature pine forests with breathtaking views as far as the eye can see. Affordability and a friendly community. Access to three state parks and a national forest just minutes from our front door. The opportunity for outdoor activity was endless. The small-town feel of McCormick was so charming, but the commute to a larger city with more amenities was a concern. A wise man once told us Savannah Lakes Village is thirty minutes from anything but an hour and a half from EVERYTHING! Knowing we were in such proximity to enjoy places like Charleston, Savannah and Asheville sealed the deal for us. I’d still get the coast, my husband would get his mountains, and then we would come home to Savannah Lakes, where the living is easy. Who can say no to that? Not us!

A random google search may have led us here, but the people and outdoor living made us want to stay. We feel fortunate every day to wake up in this community and look forward to exploring all that SLV has to offer.
