Bill and Jonda Rohrey are avid disc golfers, and have played 249 courses in 23 states! They discovered our area in 2017 while here to play The PDGA International Disc Golf Center located at Wildwood Park in Appling, GA.
Just a half-hour away, the center is "the mecca for the sport of disc golf and a must-see for every disc golf enthusiast. It features a modern clubhouse with 2,700 sq. ft. of amenities and attractions that will make your visit a unique experience.
With a state-of-the-art training center, practice putting greens, and three demanding championship-caliber courses, the International Disc Golf Center will challenge and improve every aspect of your game." (from the PDGA website).
During their visit to play the Wildwood courses, Bill and Jonda discovered Savannah Lakes Village and decided to fulfill a Bill's dream of building their own golf course with the purchase of a parcel of land on Highway 7. When they moved to SLV in 2019, Bill began construction on the now nationally recognized course, Little River Disc Golf.
Little River Golf was built with Savannah Lakes Village residents in mind and hosts both white tees for intermediate players and red tees for beginners. Disc golf has become very popular in SLV and Little River Golf is a regular gathering place for many outdoor enthusiasts here. Bill gives regular beginner lessons, too.
The course has become so popular that the Augusta Women's Golf League is hosting a tournament at Little River on September 18th! Learn more about Little River Disc Golf here: udisc.com.
The Rohreys will be at the Blueway Festival this year golfing, but also pedal boarding. Both are members of the Blueway committee. They love lake life and Savannah Lakes Village. Let us know soon if you would like to visit during the Western SC Blueway Festival!
